Position Summary

Tutors are a vital part of Mental Sharpeners LLC. Our experienced tutors will work with children K-12th grade, and adults as well, in test prep, Mathematics, English, and other desired subjects. Must be able to deliver tutoring lessons virtually efficiently effectively and efficiently, at the student’s home, or designated location of the student’s preference.

 

Education:

Minimum requirement of an associate degree or equivalent

 

Experience:

Minimum of one year of experience in tutoring or teaching students from K-12th grades and/or higher education.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in tutoring students from 9th-12th grades and/or higher education,

      in various subjects.

• Fluency in English (spoken, written, and reading).  Bilingual Preferred

• Experience working with students with diverse learning abilities, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 plans, and other learning difficulties.

• Must maintain consistent availability through the end of the contract term.

• Successfully pass a DOJ background check.

• Experience with tutoring utilizing virtual platforms. (e.g., Zoom)

Position Summary

 

Paraeducators provide support to students with special needs under the supervision of a certified teacher. They typically work in inclusive environments, aiming to provide education in the least restrictive setting possible. The primary role of special education paraeducators is to assist the teacher in various classroom tasks and activities. They offer guidance and assistance to students with special needs, taking care of their physical and emotional well-being, and ensuring their safety. In addition, paraeducators affirm the capabilities of these students and work towards fostering dignity in all interactions and relationships.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities​

​

• Help teachers and other professionals with secretarial and administrative tasks.

• Do any extra duties that come up as part of the job.

• Observe and manage students, especially those with special needs.

• Prepare instruction manuals and instructional materials for daily programs.

• Make sure the classroom is always hygienic and secure.

• Aid in the education, development, and advancement of students.

• Develop a curriculum and exhibit academic proficiency in the relevant subject area(s).

• Facilitate problem-solving by using your critical thinking abilities and curious mind.

• Collaborate with parents and the school to boost student success.

• Ability to differentiate instruction.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

• Successful passing of DOJ background check.

• Valid TB and Covid-19 vaccinations.

• Proven work history as a paraeducator or in a position related.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Excellent social and interpersonal skills.

• Strong reporting and documentation skills.

• Outstanding at managing and working with pupils.

• Credentials or training that is pertinent to being a paraprofessional.

• Proof of prior employment as a tutor or in a similar position.

• Possessing the capacity to accept guidance and criticism constructively and

• being kind-hearted, reliable, patient, adaptable, and optimistic.

• Positivity while supervising students.

• High school diploma or equivalent recommended.
